Sleep Apnea and Sleeping Pills – It Is Not The Solution

Sleeping PillsWhat is the correlation between sleep apnea and sleeping pills? Are sleeping pills safe and recommended for people who are suffering from sleep apnea? These questions have often been asked by sleep apnea patients.

Many people consider that by taking sleeping pill, they will feel relax and could have sleep better. However, this is just effective in the short term. Once you already have adequate sleep for a few days, please stop using it.

Why? You asked yourself. You should stop using it because if you use it for a long term, you will get hooked on it and it will become a habit. Once it becomes a habit, it means you are already leading to over dependence on taking sleeping pills. This is something not recommended and as far as sleep apnea and sleeping pills go, it is undoubtedly something that should not be attempted at all.

There are far better ways to deal if you are having problem with sleeping. Losing weight, eliminating using alcohol and tobacco is something worth trying.

The Long Term Effects of Sleeping Pills

Even when it does not concern sleep apnea and sleeping pills, it has been found that taking sleeping pills for a long term has bad effects:

1. You should be realizing that constantly taking sleeping pills could prove to be as deadly as smoking cigarettes. Mortality rates will be higher because of this factor.

2. It will affect the reduction of the level of brain activity during the waking hours. Even your short term memory could be affected badly and sometimes give you a hangover effect once you wake up.

So, if you are considering sleeping pills for sleep apnea, please don’t. Try to use another self-help methods like sleep apnea pillow that will help you sleep better than what sleeping pills can do.
